Glycolic-A-holic

Wish you could erase the skin sins of the summer? Glycolic is the one for you! It's the closest you can get to pushing the delete button on your skin damage and starting over without major downtime. I purchased SkinLaboratories 35% glycolic peel after reading a multitude of excellent reviews on the product. It does not disappoint.  It is, however, a tad uncomfortable to use but well worth it for the almost instant gratification.

Just apply a small amount of the gel based peel to clean, dry skin preferably with a fan brush but a cotton ball or Q-tip will do. Keep the layer thin to avoid excess irritation. A kitchen timer is your best friend here. Leave on for at least a minute but working your way up to a maximum of ten minutes.  A small hand held fan or a blow dryer set on low/cool will help you to stay comfortable while the peel does it's job. Then, just rinse with a very generous amount of cool water and MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!
You will be amazed at the afterglow!  The instructions say use weekly, Bi-weekly for mature skin, taking a break after six weeks. I have to admit it's been eight weeks and I'm still using it with no ill effects but do so at your own risk. It'll be fine...I can quit anytime I want...right?!?

The Man Bag Redefined

When I visited one of my very well put together male friends he was blissfully tossing out his old canvas tote. "It was so convenient, but was too utilitarian."  He pulled a gorgeous Jack Spade tote out of a glossy Barney's New York shopping bag. It was perfect. Somewhere in between dressy and casual it was just right for adding the finishing touch to any outfit. And just as convenient. So, save the canvas totes for the grocery store, guys. And invest in a little perfect polish for your outfit.

Go Bold or go home!

Nothing evokes old Hollywood glamour like a bold red lip.  It's Retro glamor at it's most dramatic. One swipe on the lips brings to mind the queens of the silver screen. It's a fashion risk even the most timid are willing to take. A true fashion classic. Everyone was excited to see the look return to the runways. Craving a trend? The bold orange lips at Twinkle put a fresh twist on the classic look. Can't decide? Try a red orange, it was an instant fave at the shows this season!

Eat your heart out Crème de la mer...

Eat your heart out Crème de la mer...
The biggest obsession of my lifetime is smooth glowing skin. You can wear all the illuminating foundation you want but nothing is a substitute for perfectly exfoliated and moisturized skin. The way your moisturizer reflects light matters as much as it's key ingredients. Most women would agree Crème de la Mer is the best of the best. It makes your skin look glowing and flawless. But at $130.00 an ounce it's a bit of a splurge for today's resessionista.
Also at the top of the heap is the Perricone line. Dr. Nicholas Perricone made his anti-aging brand famous through his PBS Lecture series and it certainly lives up to the hype. But even with well over 100 five star reviews on Sephora.com the $65.00 for 2 ounces price tag is a bit much these days. What's a girl (or guy) to do?
Enter our hero... alba Sea plus renewal cream. It's contains the perfect combination of active ingredients from la Mer and Perricone and the texture is more pleasant than either of them. Great for most skin types and has a gender neutral scent and priced at $14.99 it's an absolute steal! Available at Whole Foods and Target*. Also available online at Amazon.com
