Trend Love: A Bow Made Out of Hair???

N9Q25NY9DSGW

From Blair Waldorf's demure little hair bow in last night's Gossip Girl to Lady Gaga's über bow, making a bow out of your own hair is a fun way to give your hair a new look, just adjust the size to adjust the drama level. Warning: if girly cuteness is not your thing just say no to this look because there is just no way to avoid it! Watch the above video for instructions on how to do it yourself or because Cheesie is just so darn cute. If you want to know more about Cheesie check out her blog here cheeserland.com

Spring Clean Your Pores

N9Q25NY9DSGW

All the cold weather and central heating made my skin a mess, then hallelujah, Spring arrived and I realized that my skin needed a good Spring cleaning! Now, there are a lot of great methods and gadgets to clean those pores and I pretty much use them all but theres something about a clay mask that just does the job so well. If you've read this blog from the beginning you'll know that my very first post was on my favorite moisturizer in the world Alba Deep Sea Facial Moisturizer. So when I was looking for a clay mask I was thrilled to discover Alba also makes a Deep Sea Facial Mask! I was even more thrilled when I tried it. Alba Deep Sea Facial Mask contains a combination of Chinese and green clay to purify, shea butter and aloe vera to moisturize and chamomile to soothe. It also contains sea enzymes which are mineral rich and help stimulate cell regeneration. The best thing about this mask was that it left my pores feeling really clean and fresh without that dry, tight feeling you can get with some of the old school clay masks. This is the only at home facial I know of that that purify's, moisturizes and gives you anti-ageing benefits in one easy step. Plus, at around $10 it's a huge bargain!

Would Your Man Wear Floral Print Boxers?

N9Q25NY9DSGW

I am loving all the Liberty of London for Target items, so, inspired by Cindy Whitehead's post Liberty For All I decided to write about the oddest thing I've seen in the collection so far, floral print boxers! I know my husband would not buy these, nor would he wear them if I bought them for him. I do like them though, I just think they have very limited appeal. In fact, I predict these will be in the clearance rack very quickly, possibly joined by the other very floral men's pieces in the Liberty of London Collection, including floral shirts and ties. Of course, I could be very wrong. This collection is indeed a metrosexual playground. What do you think? Guys, would you wear these? Would any of you like to see your man in them?

LA Fashion Week: The Art of Comfy Chic

N9Q25NY9DSGW
One of the things I miss most about living in Los Angeles is how Angelinos turn comfortable clothing in to high art. They know that a tailored cotton jersey top feels the same on as a ratty old tee but looks a million times better. It's great to feel good in what your wearing but it's even better if you look good as well. After all, the paparazzi may be just around the corner and you don't want to be on TMZ in those ugly sweatpants right? *Wink* Here are some of the looks from LA Fashion week, click on the pictures to enlarge:

Trend Love: Floral Dresses and Black Tights

N9Q25NY9DSGW
I've always loved floral print dresses for spring and summer but I have always believed that making them look edgy was absolutely impossible so I'm madly in love with the look of black shoes and tights to offset some of the cutesy factor. It shouldn't work but it just does. Who knew florals could look so chic?

A Wonderland of Curls

N9Q25NY9DSGW

As I was watching Alice in Wonderland one thing that took me by surprise besides the 3D IMAX effects, glorious costumes and fantastic makeup were Alice's bouncy ringlets.  I've spent the last several years trying anything and everything to make my natural curl go away, and most of the time I'm at least temporarily successful. All that straightening is a lot of work though and not so great for your hair. It's fun to follow the latest style trend but after a while straight hair can become oh so boring. Enter Alice and her gorgeous curls that suddenly look so fresh. Looking around I noticed big hair and springy curls were everywhere on the runways. LOVE!
I rushed home to restyle my hair á la Alice and realized it's been so long since I wore my ringlets that I no longer have any products to enhance my natural curls. Since then I've done a bit of research on the latest products out there for curly hair. Here are the top rated products for curls from Folica.com :

  • Bumble and Bumble Styling Creme
  • - Adds body, control and humidity resistance. The more you use the more it holds.
  • Got2B Curled Up Curling spray
  • - This heat activated spray pumps up tired curls and doesn't cost a fortune. Click Here for more info or to purchase.
  • Redken Fresh Curls
  • -This product moisturizes and re-energizes curls while providing humidity resistance. Leaves curls shiny with lasting memory and fights frizz all day! Click here for more info or to purchase.
  • John Frieda Frizz-ease Take Charge Mousse
  • - Restores bounce to natural curls and even revitalizes tired perms, it also has the added benefit of sunscreen to protect hair from damaging UV rays. It also have a very reasonable price tag! Click here for more info or to purchase.
  • TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier - Defines and separates curls while adding volume texture and shine. Click here for more info or to purchase.
After all that research you may wonder what I ended up with. Well, since Pureology products are my drug of choice due to their high quality and all natural ingredients I purchased Pureology Real Curl curl Define Crème and as always with Pureology I'm very satisfied with my choice. Real Curl adds moisture to my hair and really defines my curls. A little seems to go a long way with this product and I discovered early on that too much gives you crunchy curls that need to be combed though but a slightly larger than dime sized amount = perfection.
I can't help wondering how many of my fabulous followers rock their own natural curls? What is your go to product for shiny, frizz free curls? Let us all know which products you love in the comments section. I'm always eager to try new products! Search Amazon.com for Pureology

Melbourne's Fashion Festival Day 2

Sunkissed Radiance

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and I... well I look just as pasty and pale as I have all winter. Time to reach for High Noon Freshface Glow by Fresh Cosmetics! High Noon is a lightweight liquid bronzer that hides tiny imperfections while giving you a natural looking radiance. High Noon plumps and hydrates your skin so well I find I don't need to pre-moistuize and it cares for your skin too with antioxidant pomegranate fruit extracts and encapsulated vitamins A, C, and E. Peony root and Lotus flower brighten and calm your skin while meadowfoam seed oil nourishes and hydrates your skin perfectly. Cucumber calms skin irritation and also imparts a light scent. High Noon is 100% fragrance free. Don't be put off by the tiny bottle and slightly high price tag ($36 for 1oz) , a little goes a long way with this product. I love it because it is the perfect tinted moisturizer/bronzer hybrid. I'm very fair and it isn't easy for me to find bronzers that look believeable on my skintone but this one is just perfect. It's also neutral enough that I could see it working equally well on darker skintones ,  It feels good on your skin and has such a wonderful scent from the cucumber extract that it almost feels like a spa experience to put it on. It makes you feel...well, "fresh". Click here to purchase from Beauty.com. Also available at Sephora and Barneys.
